Finally, the upgrade we have all been waiting for Zen Pinball for MacOS. Great colors, amazing detail, all the pinball physics are okay. But all the tables purchased on iOS are not transferable. Sad for a company that wishes continued business.
I have all the iOS tables ( purchased over time as they came out) and liked them all. Its great seeing the tables so large and readable on my Mac. Runs smoothly and beautifully!
I’m running MacBook Pr 2011 base line model and all i can say is great work Zen Pinball Co. without a doubt the best and action pack game with many different themes. Zen has kept pace with the latest Mavel releases, as well as Star Wars and many others. Sorcears Lair is free and their best in my opinion, Tables added later in $2 incriments, I have 20 so far and jump between different theams, and never get board. Its Free so I would never complain I’m HOOKED Graphics are top notch and physics also
I rarely, if ever, stop to write reviews on stuff. However, I had to take a minute (away from this addictive game) to say I LOVE it! I come from the old days of 25¢ pinball games and the earliest days of video games and have never really gotten into the groove of the newer games. I can promise you this; if you loved that era, then you’re going to find this download to be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made, just for the FUN of it… can’t believe it’s free! So far I’ve made one extra purchase (on Tha Walking Dead table) and it surely won’t be the last. Incredible, lifelike pinball action… unbelievable graphics and beautiful artwork. Absolutely excellent work Zen… you guys rock!! ✌
Ever since the last update the framerate has been choppy. Hopefully a fix will be available soon.
Used to be really smooth on Sorceror’s Lair , but now I get graphic lag every so often, AMD7850HD
The attempts by the programmers to portray randomness is fairly weak and transparent. I know we can’t walk around with arcade pinball games in our backpacks but can you really trust a pinball machines that you can “make harder?” All multiball situations the balls obviously flock to the flippers. If the side gates are open, you have three or attempst to close them before the ball automatically goes down one of them while in a regular pinball game, that wouldn’t necessarily happen. This is what happens when programming tries to emulate physics and gravity.
Although I’ve had this game awhile, now that I found a little time to try this (Zen Pinball 2) game out:…WOW!!!! So Fast/fluid response along with awesome graphics!!!…etc. And to top it off: You can ‘tweak’ certain factory adjustments for how the game works, reacts…..etc. THAT in itself makes this game great!!!! OK,Ill admit I haven’t tried many other games in quite a while. However, for someone like myself who fell in love with Black Knight (original 1st version back in he late 70’s/early 1980?) along with the newer version(s) and, of course, a few other games at the time when I was young, THIS is about as real as it can get *for me* without going to the boardwalk to play the real thing. Now, A little off topic, but thought I would throw my 2 cents in: I’ve noticed a lot of negative comments. The only thing I can say: Maybe a hardware problem or a few bad sectors on the HD??? Just guessing. I also know it’s very possible for there to be glitches with any software. It’s also possible to have other software installed that’s running in the background and/or not compatible with your setup. I know that’s a long stretch, but wouldn’t be the 1st time I ran into that myself. As for what I’m playing it on: a mid 2009 17” MacBook Pro. Yeah, I know it might seem like a dinosaur to some of you, but I LOVE it. I have the latest OS update and all is fine. My MacBook has VERY LOW milage. It’s FAST enough, but I’m going to install a SSD to replace the HD. I use it for recording new music with my band sometimes (although I have a small studio). I plan on doing SOME video editing and the SSD will help. As far as I’m concerned, there isn’t a fast enough computer for doing some of the video editing I try to do. I’m mentioning these things because I don’t have a ton of games that I play Online or OFFline and I have plenty of extra room on my HD. I don’t know if anything I just said will help anybody, but the idea was to say I haven’t had *any* of the problems that have been mentioned. So far I’m (finally) playing the game that comes free with it ONLY because I had a real chance and a bit of time to give it a workout. So It’s not fair for me to say ALL is perfect with all the other games/tables. As of now, I’m trying to figure out what game or games to buy that I would like. and…to the Devs: Great Job!!! ;-)
While playing and (2) balls are in the holder, the game goes into an Invasion mode with a countdown timer. The timer goes up to about 5 minutes, but NO balls can be played!! Fix this and U will have great game… Thanks.
Seems like all the games are designed by slapping some flashy graphics on an overused pinball game template, adding a few minor variations and then charging for a new “table”. I’ve played better PC pinball games years ago, ones where they paid attention to the physics first and flash later. Six months from now this game will probably be uninstalled and forgotten.
The other reviewer is right, there are places where the ball sticks in the animation. Also, some tables are poorly designed: Archer being the worst. I have played pinball for thirty years and I love the Vader table it is one of the best. Yet, many of them are just average like Butters or The Infinity Gauntlet. American Dad has the same phrases repeated over and over until you will beg for mercy. Be warned, try a few, don’t just buy everything, see if you like it first. As a pinball nut, I play under GMB, I love most of these but Bob’s Burgers, American Dad, Tesla, Rome are just awful. Bob’s and Dad have shrieking voices, like Archer, that will wreck our concentration. Tesla and Rome you can play for years and have almost no points which is not exactly motivating. Some of the tables, like Venom, are frankly unplayable. Too steep, like American Dad or boring like Shaman or Rome. The Spider Man table is the best after the Vader table. Be warned, Han Solo is another play until your fingers get sore and have nothing on the scoreboard. The Droid table is fun but difficult the ball moves at light speed; very little reaction time. If you have limited money, buy the Vader and Spider Man tables, then one at a time. Overall, a mixed review, some good and some terrible.
I downloaded the Han Solo Star Wars table and played it for a few months. Recently the table has started to “Max Headroom” on me, playing great for maybe ten seconds then just stuttering for about three seconds, then going back to normal play for ten and then doing the same again. I just downloaded the update to this game thinking the framerate issue would be fixed. It hasn’t been fixed! Pfix it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just downloaded the Vader table, same problem!
Great games! However, it is noticed on several of of the games that the ball tends to hug/exit the right side. I rarely see it go out the left. Maybe some modifications are needed.
It would be awesome if I could preveiw a table rather than blindly purchase a table I’ve never seen (run it in a demo mode with a score cap?). Also, it would be nice to know what the price of the table is BEFORE I purchase it! It’s a little unethical to have to enter my password and commit to a purchase without knowing how much it just cost me until after I get the receipt in my email! The “top in-app purchases” in the app store only lists the most commonly purchased tables (and prices).
I downloaded this game and couldn’t play it. If this is for a Mac, then the instruction guide is completely nonsense. Where is Launch??? Looks good, but ???
Still problems with purchasing downloading additional tables. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO FIX THIS!! Tried purchasing and downloading the Earth Defense table a couple of days ago. Table did not download. STILL GOT CHARGED FOR IT! When I try to restore purchases it says no tables to restore. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR YEARS NOW!! In addition some tables have issues that make them unplayable and NONE OF THE TABLE GUIDES CAN BE VIEWED! Might be a decent game if they ever fixed all the issues with it instead of just releasing more tables in effort to soak their customers for more money.
loved this game so decided to purchase another table but it did not allow me to select it. Money has been removed from my apple account but i still cant access the new table please help
Just downloaded "The Force Awakens” pack and played a whiles. Thoroughly excellent. If you like Star Wars and you like pinball at all, these are fantastic. I’ve played some of the Zen tables over the past couple years, all the tables I’ve seen are beautifully designed and lots of fun. These new Star Wars Episode VII tables are my favorite so far. I’ve enjoyed all of the Star Wars tables, but these will stand among the best. For one, I’m not a pinball wizard, and these are slightly more forgiving than some of the other Star Wars tables. Not easy, mind you, but not quite as brutal for a casual player like me. Meanwhile if you liked the new movie (I thought it was great) then you will appreciate how Zen once again captures the energy and humor of this crazy Star Wars business. I’m playing these on a Macbook Pro, which doesn’t do the tables justice, but still, they look great and the gameplay is excellent. *** I DO wish that there were a way to fix/patch flipper lag, which has been a problem on some of the other Star Wars tables and is slightly noticeable on these new ones sometimes when you first launch the ball. *** I see from the forums that this lag issue is a problem on the consoles as well, so it would be great to get that cleared up! :) The fact that I play them (on a laptop, no less) despite this issue is a testament to how great they are. I also would like to see some of Rey’s theme included on the Force Awakens table, instead of just the music from the original (“episode IV”). A pretty minor grievance!! These are some amazingly well-designed games and I hope lots of people enjoy them as much as I have. I’m hoping Zen will turn out some more Force Awakens tables, although these 2 will keep me busy for a looooong time! Thanks, Zen - you guys have some incredible talent.
I understand you give away a free game to sell in app BUT out of about 80 tables they only give you ONE to play for free. Made me mad. deleting now. Atleast give other suckers 3 tables.
